Blood of Olympus VS Divergent
We have just completed out novel study unit and to wrap it up, the kids have created their choice of a hands-on project! The kids presented their projects to their classmates and explained how their project represented and connected to their novel. They all did a fantastic job! The kids even got to play the games that they created! We are learning about the events that led up to the Revolutionary war and today we learned about "Taxation without Representation." And boy, were the kids not happy about having to give up their "money" (skittles) just because Queen Hannah and King Andrew decreed it. We have started our swimming unit for Phy Ed. Thank you Mr. Frank for this wonderful tradition of bringing the fifth graders to the YMCA for such an important life skill (especially for where we live!). The kids LOVE it! Some of us may have heard that the 5th Grade has a new leadership team. The goal of the leadership team is to show the younger students what good behavior looks like as well as helping out the school with the extra tasks that help make us such an amazing school and community! But don't take my word, here is what one of the leadership team members would like you to know about the new team: About Sevastopol School’s Leadership Team By:Grace Marth Sevastopol school’s new principal, Mrs.Hoppe, has worked with Mrs. Symons to help create a group of 5th graders that help out with school projects. Our latest project was bringing in food for a food drive, making posters for the drive, putting the food in boxes, counting food and much much more!!!! Many 5th graders have signed up and spent their recess doing things for this team. Another thing the Sevastopol leaders will be working on later in the year is door greeters for our winter concert and more. Our team is mature and humble. We help our school to be the best it can be. Team Members:
Hannah & Grace, Alaina, Claudia M., Danica, Gabby, Kaylee, Cassie, Emily, Madison, Faith, Claudia GB, and Sam We are starting our annual food drive at Sevastopol!
Please help local families by donating non-perishable food items to your child's school! To add even more fun to the food drive, we will be having a competition! 2nd Floor (4K, K, 1st & 2nd) versus 3rd Floor (3rd, 4th & 5th)! Who can donate the most and help the families of Sevastopol! For the fifth grade Halloween party this year, we got to make slime, play pin the nose on the Jack O'Lantern and race to assemble a skeleton!
Thank you to our parent volunteers: Doreen Dempster & Alycia Schopf This week in social studies we learned some important terminology about economics and how our economy works.
Stay tuned. . . Next Friday we are going to put our new found knowledge to work as we create "Economically Sustainable Amusement Parks" |
